The 2014 Homeless Census is coming up quick and we need your help.
The Census is a “point-in-time” count to determine the number of homeless people living in North Texas, including Collin County and its cities. We gather data about them and provide food and clothing. The data is used to gain funding to help combat homelessness in our community.
This year’s Census takes place on Thursday, January 23.
The city of Plano (aka Team Plano) needs volunteers. This is a fabulous opportunity for a group interested in making a difference in our community. You may sign your team(s) up by clicking here.
Plano volunteers will assemble at Plano City Hall, 1520 K Avenue, Council Chambers. The agenda for the night is as follows:
- Sign in & complete waiver (8:30 pm – 9:15 pm)
- Training (9:15 pm – 9:45 pm)
- Teams depart (10:00 pm)
- Teams return and turn in team packets NO LATER THAN (12:30 am)
As always, teams will have survival bags to hand out the homeless that you meet, and be assigned a Plano Police Officer to contact for the night. We look forward to seeing you on January 23rd at 8:30pm. GO TEAM PLANO!
We are still in need of items for survival bags. Click here for more information!
Thank you to all who have already signed up to volunteer!
