Making Our House a Home
Come Celebrate Another City House Milestone
Ribbon Cutting and Sign Dedication
901 18th St, Plano (Corner of Ave. H & 18th)
On Tuesday, December 1, City House will host a ribbon–cutting ceremony, sign dedication and house warming in celebration of our new administrative office and Youth Resource Center in the beautiful Victorian house previously occupied by The Plano Arts Center.
City House is excited to have JP & Associates Realtors as part of #GivingTuesday, as they have partnered with us on a sponsorship that will allow a new sign in front of our new offices and resource center as part of the ribbon-cutting. Their generosity will also make possible a pictorial gallery of our history with images featured throughout the house commemorating our service to the community and celebrating the successes of the youth that City House Serves. JP & Associates’ dedication and support will make our house a home for the young people utilizing our resources, counseling and programs.
JP & Associates has been a great partner of City House for years. They have a very cool tradition in hosting a holiday party every December for underprivileged and at-risk children at Main Event in Frisco, and City House kids have always been a part of it. JP also gives out school scholarships at the party to some of these deserving teens who are working hard towards their goals; select City House residents have been recipients. JP & Associates agents also generously donate a percentage of their sales to City House. They are a growing firm and make it a priority to be involved in every community they do business in. We’d like to thank them for their commitment to the community and all they have done for City House.
Our choice of date to show off our facility couldn’t be more appropriate, given the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become known globally as #GivingTuesday – a global day of giving fueled by social media and collaboration.
Festivities will begin with city officials, City House board members and staff performing a ribbon cutting and sign dedication with remarks at 10:30 am.
Following the ceremony there will be a house warming from 10:30 am-5:00 pm for the community to come tour our facility, meet our staff and new Executive Director Sheri Messer, and learn about the services and programs we provide for homeless and troubled youth and young adults in North Texas. Friends are asked to please bring monetary donations or gift cards as part of #GivingTuesday and the beginning of the charitable holiday season.
This event will showcase our success stories, and attendees will gain tips on recognizing the signs of youth in need, learn about how to best report a concern, and become familiar with resources in our community that can immediately assist in getting a child to safety.
In the evening we will open our doors from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm for a holiday reception hosted by our Board of Directors and staff where we will thank, honor and toast our key supporters, sponsors and new friends of City House.
We will feature a small silent auction all day into the evening on the premises and also have a “Giving Tree” where attendees can make a donation for much needed holiday gift cards that City House uses for the kids and homes, or bring one along to donate.
(Special thank you to Starbucks and Texas Land & Cattle for their support of this event)
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. In the United States it is observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (Dec. 1).
Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year. Charities around the country use this day and the social media platforms available to them to raise much-needed end of year funds, and City House is once again participating in this global movement. We ask that you please remember the kids of City House as part of your #GivingTuesday donations!
