City House, which has been helping at-risk youth due to abuse, neglect or homelessness for over 26 years, is holding its biggest fundraising event of the year on Saturday, September 6, 2014 – a Black & White Masquerade Gala, presented by Albertsons.

We are approaching a sellout! Tables and individual tickets still remain but act fast to ensure your attendance at the Gala Event of the Year! Click here to buy a table or tickets.

LogoIdeas3The Gala, held at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Frisco, will be hosted by honorary chair Babe Laufenberg of channel 11 sports, with former Dallas Cowboys greats Ed “Too Tall” Jones and Randy White serving as co-chairs.

City House is excited to announce a special guest and keynote speaker for this year’s gala – Laura Schroff, New York Times Bestselling author of “An Invisible Thread,” the true story of an 11-year-old panhandler, a busy sales executive, and an unlikely meeting with destiny.

“We all have the ability to throw lifelines to those in need and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Schroff said. “City House does just that, and that is why it is an organization that struck a cord with me right away. To think that two school teachers worked together over 25 years ago to make an immediate difference for homeless students in their backyard and turned their efforts into an organization that is thriving and changing lives today, is nothing short of a miracle. I am beyond honored to support City House and all of the “miracle workers” who help this organization provide emergency shelter and transitional residential services to children and young adults who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness.”

Additionally, City House will be honoring USA hockey icon Mike Modano with the inaugural “Invisible Thread Award,” given for his contributions to our community, including his support and involvement with City House.

“I am honored to be receiving this inaugural award from the great people at City House,” Modano said. “The work that they do with local children resonates with me and I am proud to be associated with them. I am very much looking forward to the Gala.”

The Black & White Gala will include participation by some of DFW’s top sports celebrities and media, complete with a silent and live auction, with an impressive variety of great items to bid on. And for attendees who like to “roll the dice for charity” there will be casino gaming tables, as well as other games of chance. The evening will conclude with dancing to the fantastic sounds of local favorite band Cuvée. The gala will begin at 5:30 pm and end at 11:30 pm.

City House provides shelter and transitional living services to children from newborn-to-17 years of age and to disadvantaged young adults who are in need due to abuse, neglect and homelessness. Based in Plano, City House is currently expanding its services into Frisco, with plans to open a new Transitional Living Home very soon and a second home to follow.

“We are thrilled to have Babe Laufenberg, Ed “Too Tall” Jones and Randy White as chairs for our Black & White Gala,” said City House Director of Events & Development Chey Reynolds. “We are also very excited that Laura Schroff will be our keynote speaker, sharing her powerful story of giving back and making an impact. And we are so honored that Mike Modano, a longtime supporter of City House, will receive the inaugural “Invisible Thread” Award. This year’s gala promises to be the best we have ever had.”
