North Texas Pride is a yearly, family friendly celebration of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning community in the North Texas ‘burbs.
North Texas Pride 2014 will be held on Sunday, June 8 from 1 – 6 pm at the Mellow Mushroom in historic downtown McKinney (218 E. Louisiana St). The event will use the venue’s indoor restaurant and enclosed back parking area for vendor booths, kids activities, dancing, free HIV testing and more. Food and drink specials will be available for purchase. Dress is come as you are.
Just Announced — McKinney City Councilmember Ray Ricchi and his wife Stephanie will co-chair North Texas Pride! Other fun features include a video game truck, bounce house, balloon artist, face painter, magician, photo booth, cookie decorating, dancing and more. With special appearance by Wayne Smith as CHER!
Each year, the executive committee approves a North Texas Pride beneficiary. This year, 25 percent of net proceeds and 100 percent of raffle proceeds will go toward the City House’s Collin County youth shelter, My Friend’s House.
Pride is an opportunity to meet with area non-profits, large corporations and small businesses who support and advocate for the LGBT community while getting acquainted with new friends in a welcoming environment. North Texas Pride advocates unity, equality and community integration for LGBTQ and straight allies through forums and events that promote pride and self-acceptance, education and awareness, and social interaction, specifically serving the community North of LBJ/635 but all are welcome!
There will be much to celebrate during North Texas Pride 2014 as courts across the country continue to open the door to marriage equality. Pride will be promoted though a comprehensive marketing plan, expected to reach over 50,000 people through print and online media and word-of-mouth using social media. The LGBTQ community lives increasingly integrated and open all around the North Texas suburbs, which has impacted hearts and minds unlike ever before. With your support, North Texas Pride can bring like-minded groups together under one roof to expand the reach of the North Texas LGBTQ community, cultivate a safe environment for LGBTQ families, couples and individuals to gather and ensure continued community integration through celebration of gay pride in suburban North Texas with straight allies.
The long-term ultimate goal of the North Texas Pride organization is to support and back a movement to provide a permanent central location to meet, congregate, educate, socialize, and provide other services to the entire LGBTA community and beyond.
